Game drives and bush walks ensure a life-changing experience. Join me as I take you on an Exclusive, small group, very private and very personal experience of Blyde River Canyon, Gods Window, Lisbon Falls and Bourke’s Luck Potholes that showcases the beauty of South Africa’s Lowveld.
Day 1 - Met by your tour representative who will present you with your documentation and transfer you from your pre-night resort or your arrival airport to the beautiful Dunkeld Country Estate in Dullstroom. All transfers take place in the morning. You will have some leisure time to settle in and enjoy the resort before dinner. Day 2 - Treasure a full day touring the Panorama Route where you will visit the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Pot Holes, the Three Rondavels, Gods Window and Lisbon Waterfalls. Savor a memorable lunch in Graskop before heading out for the last excursion of the day, The Elephant Interaction, an experience you will never forget. Return to Dunkeld for a festive farewell braai (BBQ). Day 3 - You will be transferred to the Humala River Lodge located within the Songimvelo Game Reserve. Following afternoon tea/coffee and snacks, enjoy an afternoon safari. Back at the Lodge enjoy a drink or two at the Safari Lounge deck and Bar before you sit down for a fabulous South Africa dinner. Day 4 - We get an early start on the day heading out to the bush at first light with your professional guide. Experience the intimate safari vehicles on this adventure of a lifetime. If you are lucky, the nocturnal animals will still be around after their night of hunting. Enjoy some leisure time at Humala River Lodge while anticipating your evening safari. Day 5 - Another early morning safari to relish the beauty of wild game. In the afternoon, revel in the leisurely activities that Humala offers which includes swimming, bush walks or hiking to see rare Bushmen’s paintings dating as far back as 400 BC. Following afternoon tea/coffee and snacks, enjoy your last sunset safari before enjoying dinner and a colorful, rhythmic and traditional performance by Swaziland dancers, the locals that live amongst this mountain range. Day 6 - We will wake up bright and early as we venture out of Songimvelo and into the Kruger National Park, a world renowned animal kingdom and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will have the opportunity to complete your sighting of the Big 5 animals in the comfort of our air conditioned van. Kruger boasts 147 mammal species and is home to all the Big Cats (Lion, Cheetah and the elusive Leopard). Lunch will be enjoyed in The Kruger National Park, and Dinner, back at Humala Lodge. Day 7 - After breakfast, transfer to the tranquil setting of our award-winning resort, Seasons Sport & Spa. In the afternoon you will go on a local excursion to the Hartbeespoort area for an exhilarating cable car ride to the top of the Magaliesburg Mountains. Afterwards, visit the Lion Park to learn more about conservation in South Africa. This evening, dinner is served with heaping portions of South African hospitality at Tanglewood. Day 8 - Now that you have unearthed the secrets of safari in South Africa, it may just be time to take on Cape Town’s bright city lights. You can either transfer to OR Tambo International Airport for your return flight home, or spoil yourself and stay on to experience the sophisticated side of South Africa.
What you will be doing ! Game Drives - Twice-daily game drives in the Songimvelo National Park and the famous Kruger National Park ensure memories to last a lifetime. Get up close and personal with rare and unique animals, including the Big 5. You will see Africa’s wildlife in its natural setting.
Bush Walks - Experience an intimate encounter with nature on a guided bush walk with a highly experienced ranger. Learn traditional animal tracking techniques using footprints and scat. Trackers can identify the gender of many species by footprints alone.
Panorama Route - The Panorama Route showcases some of Mpumalanga’s most spectacular scenery: the rock formations of Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondavels, God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. Continue to Lisbon Falls and the beautiful waterfalls of the region.
Fly Fishing - Dullstroom is South Africa’s fly-fishing capital. Rainbow and brown trout are stocked in most dams and streams. Dunkeld Country Estate has 17 still water dams which are stocked monthly with rainbow and brown trout, ranging in size from 3.5 to nearly 22 pounds.
Equestrian Center - Dunkeld’s Equestrian Centre features thoroughbred, warm blooded stud horses, whitewashed fences and lush green paddocks. You will have an afternoon to explore the Estate grounds on horseback, one of many recreational activities available to you during your stay.
Aerial Cableway Hartbeespoort - The Harties Cableway not only offers breathtaking views of the ancient Magaliesburg Mountains, a UNESCO-inscribed World Biosphere Reserve, but also excellent recreational and educational facilities. It was named one of the top 12 coolest cableways in the world.
Elephant Interaction - You will learn about these majestic animals, and may get an opportunity to ride the elephant and move to its rhythm as it walks through the bushveld. Elephants are the largest creatures in the African bush, so other animals you may come across will give way to you. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Lion Park - At the Lion Park you are guaranteed the opportunity to get extremely close to many of Africa’s most exciting animals including Brown and White Lion, Wild dog, Cheetah and over 20 different African wildlife species. While exploring the park, you may also see Zebra, Giraffe, Gemsbok, Springbuck, Blesbuck, Sable, Nyala and many more.
